Basswood shutters on a Mosman Federation terrace
Painted basswood plantation shutters fitted to a four-bedroom Federation home overlooking Mosman Bay.
The brief: keep the original timber sashes visible from the street, but get the inside privacy and light control of full plantation shutters. We fitted custom-coloured basswood frames inside the architraves so the heritage detail still reads from outside, with 89mm louvres tilted to throw light across the polished floors.
Forty-two days from measure to install, including a colour sample sent back to the manufacturer twice to match the existing trim.
